God and the Devil

God and the devil
Got together one day
To mix it up
And start the play
One is good
One is bad
Which one of them
Will get to stay

God said, "I am better than you
I teach what is right
And show what is true
It's love I teach
Forgiveness preached
Prayers and faith
Is what I do"

The devil laughed and said, "You'll lose
My path is the best
And easier, too
Take what you want
With no regrets
The more you have
Better it gets"

God and the devil
Got together one day
They had a plan
A wager played
One was just
One was vile
It started as
A simple trial

God was worried and told him so
"The world you'll create
Is too full of woe
Some will get hurt
And some will die
And what you teach
Is evil lies"

The devil smiled an awful smile
"You know all the rules
You know the end game
You heal the sick
I make them lame
You teach them truths
I teach them shame"

God and the devil
Got together that day
To mix it up
And start the play
One is give
One is take
Which one of them
Will get the say

God pondered what he'd just been told
How can you forgive
Until hurt's bestowed?
Easy to love
When all is good
Same thing with faith
Unchallenged stood

God and the devil shook their hands
That deal was begot
When life first began
Man has free will
Do what he will
To love or hate
To make a stand

God and the devil
Got together that day
A bargain struck
Agreement made
One path pure
One path dark
Which one would win
Mankind's bright spark?

Which one would win
Mankind's bright spark?

Whom do you pick
To rule your day?

Whom do you pick
To rule your day?
